Cooperation Between the U.S. and Russia for Polio Eradication

Representatives from Russia ns the U.S., through a Bilateral Presidential Commission, signed a protocol of Intent on Cooperation for the Global Eradication of Polio.  There are many agencies working for the eradication of polio, including USAID, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation.
The only four countries that still have cases of polio are India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.  The joint initiative is part of an attempt to re-set relations between the United States and Russia.
